Data Architect IV | ATK | Independence, MO
ATK Armament Systems (AS) is world's largest supplier of small-caliber
ammunition for the military, law enforcement and shooting sports
markets, is looking for a experienced data warehouse/business
intelligence professional. The position predominantly entails the
architectural design, development, and deployment of dimensional data
structures in an Oracle environment as well as designing and developing
the extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes using
Informatica against a combination of source systems based in Oracle,
SQLServer, and others. Working knowledge of Microsoft's BI stack
and Cognos 'Studios' would be helpful. 2-5 years experience in
Informatica, BI/DW data architecture, the 'KImball' approach including
dimensional modeling is needed.
Data Architect
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the data assets of the
organization are supported by an architecture supporting the
organization in achieving its strategic goals. The architecture should
cover databases, data integration and the means to get to the data. The
data architect achieves his/her goals via setting enterprise data
standards and working closely with the Users, systems designers and the
developers on a Project team.
The data architect is responsible for developing and maintaining a
formal description of the data and data structures - this can include
data definitions, data models, data flow diagrams, etc. (in short
metadata).
Fundamental Skills:
- Logical and Physical Data modeling (relational and dimensional
modeling)
- Data analysis
- Ability to understand data extraction, application of business rules
to transform data, and integration of data in target database
structures.
- At least 2 years experience working on Data Warehouse/BI
implementation projects.
- Working knowledge and use of specific ETL tools (Informatica, SSIS,
and general SQL tool sets).
- Data migration
- Development of a data strategy and associated policies
- Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information
needs
- An inquiring mind and the ability to abstract general principles from
specifics
- A good team player with communications and presentation skills
- Metadata management
- Data stewardship
Preferred experience in one or more of the following technologies or
disciplines:
Data dictionaries; Data Warehousing; Enterprise application integration;
Metadata registry; Relational Databases (Oracle and MS SQL server);
Semantics; Structured Query Language; Date retention and XML, including
schema definitions and transformations, Informatica, Microsoft SSIS and
strong SQL. Understanding of Cognos or Microsoft multi-dimensional
'cube' structures a plus.
